Designing a feed management app for Shopify merchants
B2B · UX/UI · Product Design · 2023
Hyperspace is a U.S.-based digital agency building Shopify and ERP solutions for enterprise and mid-size retailers. This internal Shopify app was designed for their clients to manage complex vendor product feeds — including visibility settings, metafield logic, and bulk editing — all without developer assistance.

The Challenge
Managing vendor feeds in Shopify was error-prone and time-consuming. Merchants had no centralized way to control product visibility, track sync logic, or edit in bulk — often relying on developers for routine updates.

UX Goals & Planning
Before jumping into UI, we worked closely with Hyperspace’s PM and tech lead to define clear user goals and system requirements. The focus was on giving merchants autonomy, reducing support tickets, and making data sync logic transparent and flexible.
✅ Empower non-technical users
✅ Streamline product sync setup
✅ Improve metafield visibility
✅ Reduce reliance on developers
Wireframes & Flow Logic
We explored multiple layout directions and interface patterns to simplify a complex configuration process. The goal was to make the system feel intuitive while supporting bulk actions, filters, and conditional logic.

Workflow Overview
The project was shaped around real merchant needs and Shopify’s platform requirements. The focus was on simplifying vendor feed setup and enabling flexible configurations without technical barriers. Below are key UI screens reflecting the final design solutions.

Impact & Takeaways
This project streamlined a complex vendor integration process into a guided, no-code experience for Shopify merchants. Key takeaways included:
The value of progressive disclosure for handling multi-step setup
Importance of default states and contextual help in internal tools
How thoughtful constraints can empower users, not limit them
